Alda Ellen Stephens Bradbury
Our beloved mother, grandmother and sister, Alda Ellen Stephens Bradbury, 86, passed away January 17, 2008 peacefully at home in West Valley City, surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 6, 1921 in Henefer, Utah to William Oriel and Sylvia Susan Richins Stephens. She married her sweetheart Joseph Edward Bradbury on September 13, 1942 in Boise, Idaho. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on December 16, 1964.
After graduation from LDS Business College, Alda spent most of her life as a homemaker and self-employed beautician. She was a wonderful and much loved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
Alda loved to sing and had a song for every situation - songs to calm and heal, songs to teach, songs to strengthen and give hope, songs to bring a smile to the soul. She made her famous "silky" blankets for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was not a scriptorian but much more than most, she taught and lived the essence of the Gospel, which is service and love.
Alda is survived by her children Joseph Stephens (Nancy) Bradbury, William Edward (Jody) Bradbury, Cornelia Ann Bradbury (Robert) Harvey; brother Dean Stephens, sisters Edith Stephens Hardy, Susan Stephens Bolton and brother-in-law Chris Paulson; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and sons Richard Cushman Bradbury and Thomas Richins Bradbury.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, January 21, 2008 at the Copperhill 7th Ward, 4195 South 6000 West in West Valley City, Utah. A viewing will be held at the church one hour prior to services where friends and family may call. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Henefer City Cemetery.
