Aldo Pastor Sanchez, 84, was released to his eternal reward on December 30, 2006 after a long illness. He was born in Las Villas, Cuba on April 30, 1922 to Abel Sanchez and Natalia Diaz.
From a young age he helped his father run their sugarcane and cattle ranch. He was a multi-talented man, a skilled horseman, a "horse-whisperer". He could fix anything using whatever was at hand. He was a loyal son, brother, and friend, always ready to help anyone. When he married his childhood sweetheart he embraced the role he valued most: devoted husband, father and later grandfather.
At age 46, he left his home, friends, possessions and country to escape communism and bring his family to the US seeking freedom. He overcame language and cultural barriers to create for his family the "American Dream." He is survived by his wife Monica, children; Maria Carr (Louis), Isis Sanchez, and Nina Dayton (Daniel), 17 grandchildren, 5 great-grand-children, brother Virgilio and sister Angelica Aguero. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 5, 2006 at 3:00 pm at the Cherry Hill Stake Center, 1700 South 400 East in Orem. Friends can visit with the family before the service from 2:00-3:00 pm.
