Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Alice Isaksen Menlove, 98, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, June 7, 2008, in Orem UT. She joyfully passed through the veil and joined Walden, her beloved husband of 68 years, as well as her parents, siblings, and friends.
Alice was born April 26, 1910 in Murray, Utah to Martin Jensen and Nikoline Isaksen, humble Danish immigrants devoted to their new found faith. She was the third child of seven. Her childhood was spent in Murray and Uintah Basin. The family moved to Palo Alto, Calif. in her early teens. She returned to Utah to attend BYU, and met her sweetheart Walden. They were married in the Manti LDS Temple, July 18, 1932. They lived in Lewisville, ID, Ogden, UT, and SLC, UT.
They raised a happy family of 6 children. Alice was a devoted wife and mother and loved to write poetry and keep journals and diaries. She was an active member of the LDS church and found great joy in serving the Lord through service to others.
At age 50 she returned to the University and completed her degree in education. She taught school for10 years before retiring. Alice and Walden loved to visit family, friends and travel the world. She was awed by the beauty of nature and God's creations. They enjoyed the out of doors, boating and their motor-home. They served honorably as LDS Missionaries to Alaska in 1975-76.
Alice wrote, "My strongest personal desire has been to be a worthy member of His church and to testify of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, also to be a good wife and mother, and always set a good example. I am convinced that my greatest contribution to the world is our family, our posterity. I'll be forever grateful for my devoted husband Walden, and his love for me and our loved ones. They have filled my life with joy and satisfaction. I am truly grateful for my good health. I have a love for life and its wonders. I have a complete faith in the immortality of the human soul, and look forward to the reunion with Walden, parents and loved ones."
Alice is survived by her sister Clara (Arvid) Dodge: 6 children and their spouses: Merrill (Margy) Menlove; Marlene (Richard) Cole: Nelda (Dennis) Gehring; Dean (Coleen) Menlove; Jay (Judy ) Menlove; Bonnie (Henry) Yeates: 33 grandchildren, 83 great grandchildren and 10 great, great grandchildren.
