September 20, 2010 Andrew John Arnold, age 15, passed away in the loving arms of his family after a courageous 3 year battle with liver cancer. Andrew was born on August 28, 1995 at Jordan Valley Hospital in West Jordan, Utah. His family moved to Heber when he was 1 year old, where he enjoyed a wonderful childhood running around with his friends.
He loved to go camping, hiking, and being with his family. He loved the outdoors and adored going camping in the winter with his loving father. He had a great obsession with movies and has quite the collection.
In Andrew's short life he became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at age 8. He received the Aaronic priesthood at age 12 and was ordained to the office of a deacon. He was ordained to the office of a teacher at age 14. Andrew received an honorary eagle award the same day his brother, Spencer, received his eagle award from the Boy Scouts of America. He received honors for high attendance all through elementary school prior to him being diagnosed with liver cancer shortly after his 12th birthday. After he was diagnosed, he spent 3 months receiving multiple treatments at Primary Children's Hospital. After months of treatment the doctor pronounced him terminal.
Shortly thereafter we were given the wonderful opportunity to go to Disney World, compliments of Nelson Family Enterprises. We enjoyed a wonderful family time creating many new memories. When we came home we were greeted with a wonderful surprise. The family room of our basement had been finished by our loving neighbors and friends. Andrew was blessed to receive a camping trailer, which he had always wanted, thanks to the Make a Wish Foundation.
Andrew was preceded in death by his grandmother, Raphela Arnold. He is survived by his parents, Dan Kay Arnold and Teresa Marie Arnold and by his siblings: Alyssa (Jake) Craig, Spencer, Sarah, and Shayla. He is also survived by both his grandparents, John and Lois Harvey, and Kay and Mary Arnold.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday the 25th of September at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Stake Center located at 500 N 550 E Heber City, Utah. There will be a viewing on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Stake Center. Interment will be at the Heber City Cemetery.
