Arlette Giles Mitchell, October 5, 1954 - October 12, 2010, passed away peacefully in her sleep after an illness. Arlette was born in Ogden, Utah to Porter & Wilda on Giles October 5, 1954.
She loved the performing arts as young woman at Ogden High where she was involved in theater and choir. She was also a cheerleader.
Arlette married Craig T. Mitchell October 17, 1974 in the Logan LDS Temple. They spent most of her years in Ogden, Utah but spent 13 years in Spokane, Washington with her young family.
She loved children and the disabled. She worked for the Ogden School District for 17 years serving special needs kids. She cared for many special needs children and adults in her home since 1984. Whenever she saw someone with a disability she said, "There is one of my kids," and she always stopped to talk to them.
Her home was the place for all of her children's friends to be, where she was mom and grandma to many. When watching a movie the kids would fight over who got to sit by her so she could tickle their backs or play with their hair. Her greatest desires in life were to serve others, be a good mother and raise her children in the gospel. She loved her granddaughters and they adored her.
She served in many positions within the LDS church including, Stake Primary Presidency, YW President, Primary President and Relief Society Presidency. If anyone ever needed help with anything she was there ready to help. She loved serving others, especially decorating for special events, or making her fabulous cinnamon rolls to take to someone.
She loved yard work and always had a beautiful yard of flowers. She will be remembered for decorating for each holiday and season throughout the house. Swedish Pancakes and cinnamon rolls were her specialty.
She has always been proud of her kids, bragging on all of their accomplishments and talents. As they walked out the door she would always say to them, "Remember who you are and what you stand for!"
