Ava "Neola" Madson passed away April 27th, 2011 and joined her eternal sweetheart, Max Tanner Madson, who passed away four years earlier.
Neola was born on January 16, 1920 in Laveen, Arizona to James Darius Young and Mary Elizabeth Merritt Young. She enjoyed a happy and close relationship with her eight siblings throughout her life.
Neola graduated from Spanish Fork High School and shortly thereafter, married Max Tanner Madson on December 16, 1940. They moved to Washington, D.C. where Max worked. She then waited for him while he served in the European Theatre during WWII. There they raised their family of four children, Richard E. Madson/Linda (Florida); Kathy Ostmann/Frank (deceased/Charleston, Utah); James M. Madson/ Elaine (Heber City) and Ron Madson/Pam (Alpine, Utah); fourteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
From early childhood, Neola loved to dance, which was a life-long passion for her and Max. She played high school basketball and enjoyed painting (especially her beloved mountains) and sewing gifts for family and friends. Her favorite church calling, throughout her life, was teaching primary children. She also loved teaching dance and providing service for others, including bringing many into her home who needed help. Nothing was more cherished by her then spending time with her children, grandkids, and extended family. All of her siblings had predeceased her.
Neola lived and loved well, and was loved by many during her ninety-one years on this earth. She is well deserving of her reunion with her parents, siblings, daughter, and many that went before. We will miss you.

These viewings and service will be at the LDS Ward on 190 North 800 West, Orem, Utah. The interment will be at the Charleston Cemetery in Heber City, Utah.
