Barbara Kay Jones Frischknecht passed away September 19, 2007 in Salt Lake City Utah, due to natural causes. She was joyfully reunited with members of her family who preceded her in death, including two beloved children, Cynthia and Kurt. Barbara was born on April14,1924 to Francis Owen and Kate Luella Erickson Jones in Mt. Pleasant Utah, and grew up in Lovell Wyoming. She attended the University of Utah where she met Neil C. Frischknecht. They were married March 20, 1945 in the Manti Temple. Barbara and Neil had nine children and lived for many years in Ephraim, Utah, later moving to Provo. (Later divorced.)
Mom was devoted to her children, and had a high work ethic, teaching the value of work and the importance of doing our best. She loved to garden and always grew a beautiful array of flowers. Mom loved children and teaching, and completed her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from BYU. She taught Kindergarten at East Sandy Elementary from 1975-82; then worked as a teacher's aid at Oakridge School in Provo from 1983-88, working with individuals with Developmental Disabilities, while pursuing her Master's Degree in Special Ed.. Barbara was a devoted member of the LDS Church and gave many years of service. She had a great love for music and a beautiful voice. It was very important to her that each of her children study music.
Barbara is survived by seven children, Carol Ann Bahr (Lee) Bountiful, Neil Jones Frischknecht (Judy) Midway, Joan Sayer (LaMar) West Jordan, Jill Andrews (Don) Spanish Fork, Bobby Jo Jackson (Kerm) Orem, Mark Frischknecht Provo, Cheryl Jones Frischknecht Las Vegas Nevada, Jennifer Frischknecht, West Jordan; thirty nine grandchildren and thirty seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Milton Owen Jones, Pleasanton, Ca, and John R. Jones, Ventura, California. A viewing will be held Saturday, September 22, 2007 from 9-10:00 a.m. with Funeral services following at 10:30 a.m., at the Edgemont 3rd Ward Chapel, 350 East 2950 North, Provo, Utah. Interment will be at the Orem City Cemetery.
