Ben D. Perez sadly passed on October 10, 2013 at 10:05 a.m. after losing his battle with cancer. Ben was born on January 21, 1924 in Tombstone, Arizona. He attended ASU and U of A. Ben served in both the army and air force and was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and Viet Nam. He received several service medals including two bronze stars. He subsequently retired from the Postal Service. Ben is survived by his wife of 62 years, Celia N. Perez; six children, Valerie Borgens, Camilla Perez, Ernest Perez, Judith Perez, Perry Perez and Kenny Perez; 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Ben's lifelong talent and joy was music. He played several instruments including trumpet, clarinet, flute, keyboards and guitar, but his first love was playing tenor saxophone of which he played with several bands in the style of big band, Mexican, tropical, jazz and polkas. Ben will be cherished and remembered as a man of integrity, decency, generosity, compassion and strength. He is much loved and will be forever missed by all who knew him. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 19 at 10 am Faith Bible Church 17230 N 59th Ave, Glendale, AZ with burial to follow at Resthaven Park Cemetery 6450 West Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ.
