Benito G. Hernandez

Benito G. Hernandez, March 8, 1956 - November 5, 2009
To live a full life some might assume many years are required. Benny proved that less is definitely more. 53 years was all it required to touch innumerable lives. Lives that will be forever enriched having witnessed that giving to all others is the ultimate way to live.
His children and their families brought him priceless joy.
Cheerfully optimistic and gifted with interpersonal skills, he greatly enjoyed his profession in the auto sales industry and the people with whom he worked. He had an engaging personality and a twinkle in his eye that almost always brought a smile to everyone he met. People liked being with him because they came away feeling better for having done so.
Devoted to his wife, Maryann, together they pursued their dreams. He enjoyed many friendships and will be greatly missed.
He lives on through his unselfish giving of himself. He always thought of others first. I know others will see, walk, breathe and have a 2nd chance at life thanks to his generosity and big heart.
Preceded in death by his loving parents, Bonifacio and Lidia Hernandez.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Neff, and her son Riley Neff; his children: Benito Hernandez, Jr., Christine Lynette Hernandez VanBuren, Patrick Segura, Christopher Segura and Chancelor Segura; His five sisters: Berta Wagstaff, Lidia Allen, Isabel Hernandez, Rosa Maria Vassallo, and Anna Maria Hernandez; and brother, Bonifacio G. Hernandez, Jr.; and two granddaughters: Sydney Holley Hernandez and Iliana Kathleen VanBuren. Life long friends Dr. Hugo Rojas and Vaughn B. Nelson "I will miss you Buddy".
Dear Benny,
I am better for having known, loved and been touched for even a moment by your heart and enthusiasm for life. Because of this journey we have taken together, I will forever remember to take time to appreciate and enjoy the simple things in life. It has been these simple glories and challenges in life that have seen me strengthened.
"From this day forward, you shall not walk alone; my arms will be your shelter, and my heart will be your home."
In the days to come I will forever reflect on the legacy that you have left. Forever my best friend, I recite from our wedding vows:
May your journey together into the very heart of life be ever blessed with the Manna of this beautiful land. May you always have available to you the energy and the peace of the mighty ocean. May you greet one another in every new morning with the loving aloha in your hearts. May your days contain the sweetness of fragrant tropical blossoms under a hula moon. When you find life's experiences get a little hot, may you be cooled by the remembrance of gentle trade winds. May every rain shower find you dancing together under a glorious rainbow. May the sparkling hokulani stars inspire your dreams, andmay the son over Haleakala ever warm your hearts. And, as you walk together, hand in hand, upon the land, may you leave no footprints in the golden sands when at last your journey is done. Our journey together in this life has come to an end. You will be forever missed, remembered and cherished. Thank you for taking such good care of me and making me your princess. You are my prince. Love, Mary Ann
To all those who loved him, blow a kiss, shake a fist and have a beer. Double or nothing, let's play pool. Game on!
