Long time resident, Bennie Jack Richey, born Oct. 12, 1942 in Rockwall, TX, passed away on New Year's Day from his battle with lung cancer.
He moved to Wendover with his family in 1946, where he has many life-long friends. He attended Wendover Schools. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army with a tour in Viet Nam. Bennie Jack worked at various jobs in the Wendover area as a heavy equipment operator, finish carpenter, slot mechanic, and maintenance worker.
He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting. His first love was his family. He is survived by his wife, Kathy (Spillman) Richey, five children, Charlene Richey, Scott Richey, Boise, ID., Tony Spillman, Richland, WA., Misty Spillman, Fernley, NV., Audra Carson (Ben), Wendover, NV., twin sisters, Peggy Sue Williams (Eldon), Ranch Cordova, CA., Ida Lou Preas, San Angelo, TX , eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildred, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and always faithful companion, his dog, Chicken. A special thanks to his good friends Ron and Carol Nelson and Jim and Lori Stappenbeck. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Fayma Richey, brothers, Bill, Sammy, and H.L. Richey, sisters, Mildred Irachibald and Betty Jean Christensen, nephew, Phillip Richey, niece, Theresa (Richey) Avalez and great-niece, Stephanie Richey.
Bennie Jack requested no services, so a celebration of his life will be held during the Wendover Reunion in August, 2011.
