Betty Jane Phillips, age 87, died Monday, October 22, 2007 in Tooele, Utah. Betty was born in Scranton, PA on August 1, 1920 the daughter of Walter Eber Branning and Christine Edith Mathewson Branning. She was a High School Graduate and held an Associates Degree from Business School. She married Alford Burnside Phillips March 24, 1939 in Tunkhannock, PA. He was a WW II Navel Veteran. She worked as a salesperson for Women's Apparel and as a Secretary for North American Rockwell Aeronautics Division. She was the owner of Phillips Shaklee Health Care Products Home Business. Betty sang in Light Opera Productions in Scranton, PA, and was a member of the Eastern Star in PA. She was a Co-Founder of Astronotes Choral Group in San Diego, CA, a member of Sweet Adalines of San Diego, CA, a member of the Presbyterian Church choir in La Habra, CA and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Tulsa II Ward choir. Betty loved to sing. She performed in the Messiah each Christmas season. She was a manager and role model for young girls 10 to 12 yrs of age in the Girls Softball League in La Habra, CA. She loved plants, flowers and vegetable gardening. She was an avid member missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was an instrumental part of several people being baptised into the LDS church in Tulsa, OK. She is the mother of three children; Barbara Christine Fields, an un-named infant son deceased after birth, and Virginia Jeanette Graham. She was preceded in death by her mother, Christine E. Branning, father, Walter E. Branning, Husband, Alford B. Phillips, Infant Son, and Daughter: Barbara C. Fields. She is survived by a daughter, Virginia J. Graham; six grandchildren Janean Farrens, Colleen Fields, Monico Fields, Heather-Marie Turner, Richard Garrett, II, and Jeanette Thrall. Nine Great-grandchildren: Anthony Turner; Kathleen Turner, Alan Turner, Aaron Fields, Kyle Fields, Cambria Farrens, Cole Farrens, Cassiah Farrens, Richard Garrett, III, and Michael Garrett. A Graveside Service will be held in Dunmore, PA at the Dunmore Cemetery at 10:00am on Tuesday, November 6, 2007.
