Beverly Ann Hodgdon of Spring Creek, Nevada passed away April 26th, 2011, joining her loving husband, Norman Chester Hodgdon, who passed in 1993. Bev was born on March 15, 1930 in Carlin, Nevada , the youngest of five children to Lloyd and Leola Fitzgerald. After graduating from Carlin High School in 1948 Bev worked for the US Post Office in Carlin. In 1950, she joined the US Navy, ultimately attaining the rate of PN2. Bev was selected to play for the All Navy Women's Softball team while she was stationed in Washington, D.C. She toured the country with the team until she was transferred to Seattle, WA. In Seattle, Bev met Norman Chester Hodgdon; the two married on February 11, 1955. They moved several times during the early years of their marriage before settling in San Diego, CA. There they raised their three sons: Norman/Diane; Michael (deceased); and Thomas/Chrissty. Bev is also survived by three grandchildren and a great-grandson, as well as two sisters: Catherine Stell of Carlin, NV and Nadeen McDonough of Reno, NV. Bev loved sports her entire life. She played high school basketball and softball and later became an excellent bowler, winning many awards and trophies at the National level. Bev enjoyed being outdoors, and she was an avid fisherwoman and gardener in her retirement. Beverly lived and loved well, and was loved by many during her eighty-one years on this earth. She is well deserving of her reunion with her parents, siblings, son, and many that went before. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, May 14th at Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, Nevada. Bev's ashes will be laid to rest with her husband's at the Veterans Cemetery.
