Beverly Barham Spray Lawrence 1925-2010, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on August 30, 2010. Beverly was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on June 24, 1925, to Harold LeRoy Barham and Ellen Madeline Pyper Barham. She graduated from East High School.
As a young woman, Beverly provided tremendous support to her single mother and helped raise her six younger brothers and sisters. During World War II, she worked at Fort Douglas and was chosen as its War Bond Queen. On December 24, 1943, she married Robert Spray. They later divorced. She was also married for a short time to Don Lawrence. Beverly was a devoted mother and worked tirelessly to support her four daughters, one of whom has special needs. Through her example, she taught her daughters about the importance of continuing on in the midst of adversity.
Beverly was an artist, who loved nature, especially horses. She was a talented businesswoman and worked in a variety of occupations including advertising, event planning and floral design. Beverly was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in a variety of positions.
She was preceded in death by two brothers (Robert and Lee), one sister (Kim) and a great-grandson (Collin). Beverly is survived by her four daughters, Kathy Sudbury Finkelstein; Jeannie (David) Lancaster; Robyn (Don) Shelton and Michelle Spray; her brothers, Bill and Ed (Jeannene) Barham; sister, Marilyn Fox; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The family expresses appreciation to everyone who assisted Beverly during her recent illnesses for their gentle support and caring. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2010, at 10 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Meadows Meetinghouse, 9455 So. 4800 W., South Jordan, Utah, with viewing prior to the services at 9 a.m. Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery.
