Brent D. Cooper died June 14, 2012 peacefully at his home in West Valley with his faithful sweetheart of 48 years by his side. Brent was born March 11, 1942 in Pocatello Idaho to Clive Joseph and Rena Dilworth Cooper. He is survived by his siblings Gordon Cooper, Sharon Ives, Verna Gammon, Alan Cooper and Todd Cooper. Brent served a mission for the LDS church from 1961 to 1963 in the North Western States Mission. After his mission he spotted the beautiful Vickie Chamberlain at a dance and knew she was the only one for him! They married Nov. 20, 1964 in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity. That was the beginning of their amazing journey together. They welcomed seven children into their home. He was working for the Welfare Services in Salt Lake and serving as a bishop at the time of his stroke. Leaving him severely disabled he worked hard to learn to speak, walk, read and write all over again. In time he got the courage to return to the temple where he discovered he could provide an invaluable service. He has spent the better part of the past 25 years at the Jordan River Temple three times a week serving the Lord with all his heart, might, mind and strength. He has been a shining example of how to meet a challenge with courage and faith. He is truly a giant and his frail, failing body could no longer contain his mighty soul. We know he has moved on to meet the next challenge head on, still preparing the way for his wife and children. His life and legacy has forever changed the course of our lives. Grateful for the love and example he provided are his children Michelle Neuman, Candice Crockett, Brandon Cooper, Ryan Cooper, Damon Cooper, Carolyn McAfee, Kendal Cooper and 24 beautiful grandchildren. We will miss you! Two viewings will be held. Sunday, June 17 from 6-8 p.m. and Monday June 18 from 9:30-10:45 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. The address of these meetings is the LDS chapel at 3175 South 3450 West in West Valley City, Utah.
