Bryan Don Hardy "Axle"
Our loving husband and father passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends in his home on September 15, 2011, from complications due to ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease. He was 53 years old.
Bryan's biggest accomplishment in life and his greatest joy is his family. Bryan and his wife Janet have five children and 16 grandchildren. Bryan is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a very strong testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel and a deep love for his Heavenly Father and his Savior Jesus Christ.
Bryan was born November 24, 1957 and raised in West Jordan Utah. He attended Bingham high school where he had two passions, sports and his girlfriend Janet. There he played football, basketball, winning 3 state championships in baseball, receiving All-American honors, and loving every minute of his time there. Bryan and Janet met when they were 12 years old and formed a lasting bond that will seal them through the eternities. Bryan and Janet were married on June 1, 1977 and sealed on June 1, 1978 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Bryan attended Brigham Young University where he played baseball and studied business management and accounting. After three years at BYU he was drafted and played with the Chicago Cubs baseball team in their minor-league organization. Bryan finished his education during the winters and graduated from BYU in April of 1983. Bryan spent 18 years living in Herriman, Utah and working in Magna, Utah for ATK. He moved his family to St. George, Utah in 2000 and worked at Deseret laboratories until his passing. Bryan would like to thank the management at DLI and Wells Fargo Bank for their help and support.
Bryan is survived by his mom and dad, Alan and Louann Hardy, and Brother Bruce. His beautiful wife Janet and their five awesome kids and spouses, Nick(Alvina), Lacy(Ryan), Phillip(Sarah), TJ(Sela), Nellie(Justin) and 16 terrific grandkids. Bryan's greatest joy was being a father, teacher, coach, and friend to his five children who he loves with all his heart. He also loves them for giving him the best 16 grandchildren on earth.
Bryan would like to thank his wife Janet and his children for the extraordinary care they gave him while he battled this dreadful disease. He would also like to thank his extended family and friends, coaches, teammates, ward members, coworkers, caregivers, and especially the hospice team who took the time to visit and serve him in his time of need.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 19, 2011 at 12:00 p.m., at the Red Cliffs Stake Center on 1285 N. Bluff Street St. George, Utah. A viewing will be held at the Church Sunday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Monday morning from10:00-11:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Tonaquint Cemetery.
