Carl David Madsen passed away peacefully from age related illness at his home surrounded by his family in Orem, Utah the evening of June 8, 2006. Carl was born in Brigham City, Utah on November 28, 1919 to Roland A. and Abigail Rees Madsen. On February 19, 1941 he married Jneil Andersen in the Logan Temple. After he graduated from Box Elder High in 1938, he attended the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles. In 1949 he graduated from Utah State University Phi Kappa Phi. Always a hard worker, he successfully designed and manufactured hobby horses sold throughout the west. He was both a journeyman carpenter and painter. He taught Art at Dixon Junior High. He retired as an agent for State Farm Insurance. He was also successful in the real estate and apartment business. He was active in the LDS church and served in many positions including a mission to Hartford, Connecticut. He served in the Provo temple for twelve years. His hobbies included white-water rafting, tennis, calligraphy, camping, hunting, fishing, and art. Many homes display his artwork. He won many ski awards including a second place nationally in the NASTAR competition. He is preceded in death by: a daughtera"Sue; a sona"Paul; his parents; brothersa"Horace, Wayne, Fred, and Delbert; sistersa"Lola Tingey, Laura Webber, Afton Bingham, Amy Beecher, and Grace Pratt. He is survived by his: wifea"Jneil; childrena"David (Marilynn) Madsen, Ronald (Sharon) Madsen, Jonathan (Karen) Madsen, Bruce (Shauna) Madsen, Annette Madsen, Andrew (Tammy) Madsen, Debora (Ray) Fergeson; siblingsa"Mildred Anderson, Clyde Madsen, Milton Madsen, and Dorothy Bramwell; grandchildrena"thirty five; and great-grandchildrena"thirty. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday June 15, 2006 beginning at 11:15 a.m. at the Sharon Park 3rd Ward at 225 East 200 North in Orem, Utah. Viewings will take place between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. before the funeral as well as 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on June 14th. The family wishes to thank Jonathan, Luke, Tara, Dana and the staff from Alpine Hospice for their loving, tender care. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Church Mission Fund.
