Carol Martell Robins our beloved Mother, Grandmother and friend passed away on August 31, 2012 in Spanish Fork, Utah. She was 75 years old when she passed away after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Carol was born on September 13, 1937 in Burley, Idaho to Mark Martell and Mary Ada Terry. She was educated in the Burley and grew up on the family farm. She learned to work alongside her brothers and sisters. While growing up on the farm, she gained a special love of horses. She had fond memories of the family horse "Star" and loved to ride him through the fields as she and her family worked the farm. Carol learned to work hard early in her life and throughout her life, she was always willing to take responsibility and see that important tasks got finished.
Carol attended Burley High School and enjoyed being part of the pep club and the flag performance team. She had many friends and loved spending time with them and going to the high school activities.
After high school, Carol relocated to Renton, Washington to live with her Brother Richard and his family. In Renton, she worked for General Electric. She then moved to Provo, Utah to go to school and worked as an assistant in the Administration department at Brigham Young University. While going to school at BYU, Carol met Ken Robins in the University LDS Ward that she attended. They were later married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 3, 1960. They were blessed with three sons; Ken, Del and Alan.
When Carol lived in Ogden, Utah, she was employed as secretary for the Ogden City Police department. After she and her family moved to Colorado Springs, she obtained a paralegal certification and worked as a paralegal there and later on when she and Ken relocated to Seattle, Washington.
Carol enjoyed serving as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a Young Woman's President and as a Relief Society President. In 1989, Carol and her husband were called to work as ordinance workers in the Seattle Temple. She absolutely enjoyed her experiences serving in the Temple. She loved the people that she worked with and those experiences brought her great comfort and joy. Carol and Ken were able to continue as temple workers in the Provo Temple when they moved to Spanish Fork, Utah to be closer to family. Throughout their experiences in Utah, Colorado and Washington, they were blessed with good friends who have continued to be a great blessing in their lives and the lives of their children.
Carol loved to work with her hands she was not only a great artist but also worked very hard to become an accomplished seamstress. She took great joy in making beautiful handicrafts for her children, grandchildren and friends.
Carol is survived by her children, Kenneth M. Robins (Tammie), Del M. Robins (Marianna), Alan M. Robins (Veronica); eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild and one on the way; by her brothers Richard Martell, Morris Martell and Darwin Martell; and her sisters Enid and Karen. She was preceded in death by her husband Ken Robins; her parents, her brothers Mark Martell and Clive Martell and her sisters Blanche Porter and Eve Martell.
Carol's family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the medical staff of Sunrise Hospice who were so kind and caring to her during her last few months. The family also expresses thanks to the many friends who brought her joy during her illness.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. at the Canyon View Stake Center; 989 S. 2550 E., Spanish Fork, UT.
