Dorothy Caroline Sampson McMahon left us on September 16, 2011 after 93 wonderful years of life.
Born to John Robert and Iva Mae Sampson on March 1918 in Delta, Iowa, she was the youngest and last remaining of four brothers and one sister.
She is also preceded in death by her loving husband, Maj. Hugh Joseph McMahon. Survived by her only child, Michele McMahon, two grandchildren; Deidra Payne and Daphne Swisher and three great grandchildren; Katrina Caroline and Ashley Michele Payne and Daron Hugh Swisher. After earning a degree in Business Administration in 1940 in Chillicothe, MO, she met and married Hugh and accompanied him on his military tour of duty. Their life together took them to many places. She was employed twenty years with the Federal Government and both retired in El Paso, TX. Caroline was an avid reader and never tired of learning about people and world events. Perhaps because of this, she became a tireless advocate for those in need as well as the elderly. She exercised regularly, her sense of humor and wit were notorious, and she had a deep affection for animals, being a lifetime member of the A.S.P.C.A. and was frugal almost to a fault. She wouldn't let any useful thing be wasted. We remember her love, kindness, generosity and much more. We miss her. Sleep peacefully, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother for a while.
