Cathirn (Cathi) Lovisa Barney Sabin, 77, quietly passed away with her family around her on Saturday, June 23, 2007, after a very long battle from cancer and the after effects of treatments.
Cathi was born in Spanish Fork, Utah on April 26, 1930, to Joseph Alva Barney and Sarah C. Ottesen. She was the sixth child of eight. She went to school in Spanish Fork where she meet her life long sweetheart Elden Clyde Sabin, and married him in the Salt Lake Temple on August 20th 1947.
She was active in the LDS church, fulfilling jobs as Primary teacher, Primary President, Relief Society President, Stake Relief Society Board member, camp director and enjoyed doing Temple work.
Cathi loved her husband and their children and was very proud of their love, growth and accomplishments. She took great pride in her home and loved the skills of homemaking, was an excellent cook, and loved sewing, especially sewing for herself and her daughters.
Cathi had a love for life and adventure, including camping, hiking and repelling. She was a staff member for several different high-challenge rope courses, traveling to many areas of the United States. She worked for BYU in registration and in the testing center. She was employed as a Community Action Outreach employee working in Pleasant Grove and Orem.
She was preceded in death by her son Paul E. Sabin, son-in-law David C. Jones, brothers, Floyd, Oral, Ervin, and Glen Barney and sister Della May Smith. She is survived by her husband Elden, and children Richard (Anna) Sabin, Marjean (Ron) Bleazard, Keith (Sue) Sabin, daughter-in-law Gaylene Sabin, Kathleen (Kim) Howell, Carolyn Jones, brother Ross (Marie) Barney and sister Madge Johnson. She left twenty-six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

A viewing will begin Tuesday night from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., with Funeral services Wednesday, June 27 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lakeside 14th Ward at 2580 West 200 South, Provo, Utah.
