Charlena Gay Wagstaff

Charlena Gay Wagstaff was born on February 11, 1951 to Claude Gale Wagstaff and Betty Minerva Kofford in Roosevelt, Utah. At six months of age, her mother died. She was raised by her paternal grandparents, Claude and Blanche Wagstaff in Tabiona, Utah. She graduated from Tabiona High School in 1969, where she excelled academically and athletically. She attended Weber State University in Ogden. While there, she participated in swimming and was on the Women's Basketball Team. Later in life, she received an award for swimming. She worked primarily as a cabinetmaker and also worked as a forest service worker. She enjoyed being able to work at the 2002 Olympics. She never married, but had 2 "children", her cats, Patches and Buddy, who by the way need good homes. Her great loves were her horse, Daisy, a sorrel pacer, and the great outdoors. She loved camping and fishing in North Fork, swimming in the ice-cold reservoir and river in Tabiona. She lovingly cared for her grandmother, Blanche until the end. Her humor, ever present, helped her win friends and stayed with her 'til the end. When her close friend, Jan, died, she said, "I wish I would've paid closer attention and saw how she did it!". She was fun and engaging, always concerned about others welfare and never wanted to put others out. She never complained, and had to be prodded to reveal any of her needs. Those who came to help her left feeling better than when they came and were lifted by her humor. She passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at the age of 56. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at the LDS Chapel at 240 East 400 South in Heber, Utah. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the church and Wednesday prior to the service. Interment will be at the Tabiona Cemetery, Tabiona, Utah following services. She was such a great example to all of us. We have all been lifted by knowing her and feel very blessed to have had her in our family.
