Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Charlene Louise Pittenger Hopkins, 64, passed away peacefully at home in Veyo, Utah on Friday, May 2, 2008. She was born May 20, 1943 in Los Angeles, California to Lynn and Rose Weber Pittenger. She married Lester Taylor in Los Angeles on April 15, 1960, who preceded her in death. She married Daniel Walter Hopkins on May 20, 1998 in Dameron, Utah.
After school in California, Charlene was a successful accountant and bookkeeper from Southern California to St. George for many clients, including Jack LaLanne. She was also a 911 dispatcher in Mesquite, Nevada. She loved all the people she worked with. In addition to her work, she loved riding her horses and raising her family. She loved all of her many grandchildren. An active member of the LDS Church in the Veyo Ward, she taught primary and enjoyed doing temple work for her ancestors.
Charlene is survived by her husband Daniel and children Kenny (Bert) Taylor, Chuck (April) Taylor, Kelli (Brian) Carlton and Scott (Ingrid) Taylor; five step-children Sabrina, DesRea, Misty, Brent, Bryan and daughter-in-law Melinda Taylor. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, whom she all loved as hers and her sister Dorothy Steem. She is preceded in death by her son John Taylor, who died on November 11, 2007, one step-son Daniel Shane, two grandchildren and her brother Leon Pittenger. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 5, 2008, at the Veyo Cemetery in Veyo, Utah. Arrangements by SereniCare, Funeral Directors in St. George.
