Our "Prodigal Son" has returned home to his Heavenly Father. The feast has been prepared. Let the Rejoicing begin. Born March 5, 1987, in Salt Lake City, Utah, he was the only child born to Michele (Shelley) Carlene Carpenter and Joseph Louis Lamkey during a marriage that sadly ended in divorce Chris, realizing that a father is more than a sperm donor, chose to change his last name to that of his mother's father and legally became Chris Carpenter. As the years went by and his mother re-married, Chris finally looked up to a man he could call 'father" and he readily accepted Shelley's husband, Mark A Woods as "Dad". During his tumultuous teen years, Chris became addicted to drugs, always fighting a horrendous battle, always bouncing in and out of jail for various offenses , usually associated with that addiction. It was during this time that he met his beautiful wife, Brittany Ann, losing his heart to her completely. With the encouragement and support of his mother, who had stood by him through all his trials, Chris and Brittany entered into a whirlwind marriage in 2007 and over a period of the next five years, they had two precious children, a daughter, Kloie Ann and a son, Koplin, both of whom Chris adored. He had finally won the struggles over his addiction and was putting his life back in order, having given up even cigarettes, a habit he had enjoyed for many years, and was just beginning to get reacquainted with the sweetness of family life when our sweet Husband, Father, Son and Brother, Christopher Louis Carpenter, passed away Sunday, July 29th, 2012 while spending precious time with his children. He was 25 years old. His passing was due to natural causes not yet identified. Chris is survived by his wife, Brittany, his daughter, Kloie Ann, his son, Koplin, parents, Mark and Michele Woods, sisters: Amanda Jo (Marshall) Carpenter, Taci Lyn Adams, Kadi Mason, and Audrey (Carlos) Magdelena, brother: Weston Woods, and very special "bro", Ceazer Love, grandparents: Sandi Jo Carpenter-Nordhagen and Bill and Claudette Woods, as well as many aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. We invite family and friends to join us in our celebration of his life Monday, August 6th, 2012, at the Winder 3rd Ward building located at 4551 South 1200 East, Salt Lake City, Utah.
