Christa Dorothea Birth Koenig

Christa Dorothea Birth Koenig passed away peacefully at her home Nov. 11, 2012. She was born to Friedrich M. & Emma P. Fritz Birth on Nov. 27, 1928 in Schneidemuehl, Prussia, Germany, the 7th of 11 children and the older of twins. She was a devoted wife to (Georg Hans) Werner Koenig. They were married on May 6, 1947. Marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
They immigrated to the United States in 1953 arriving in Utah with their children, Christine and Georg. Four more children were born in Salt Lake City, Michael, Tara, Marian, and Werner.
Christa was a hard worker and wonderful friend to many. She was a fabulous cook, and could organize wonderful banquets. She was always helping others, was very generous and loving and compassionate. Christa always gave 100% of herself in whatever she did.
Christa touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her children Christine McKinley, Georg, Michael (Julie), Tara Evans (James), Marian, Werner; 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, sister Brigitte Foster (Gerald) and brother Werner Birth.
She is predeceased by her husband Werner, her parents, her siblings - Gerhard, Ruth, Edith, Irmgard, Nephi, Eva, Margarethe, Peter; grandson Shane Koenig and son-in-law Theodore McKinley.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Sat. Nov. 17 at the LDS 21st North Ward at 680 East ("K" St) 2nd Ave., SLC. A viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to the services. Many thanks to the Millcreek hospice staff for their loving care of our wonderful, sweet mother.
