Our mother, grandmother, great grandmother passed away in the early morning of Oct. 29, 2012. Corrie was born on March 23rd, 1927 in Hilversum, Netherlands to Arie (Dad) and Dean (Mom) Boom. Corrie lived a normal life in Holland until WWII then for 5 years her family endured many hardships. After the war she met my dad Louis S. Cohen. They were married on Oct. 21. 1950.
They immigrated to the United States on Dec. 22, 1952. Together they came to build a new life for their family.
Corrie has worked hard all her life running the family business, Cohen Canvas Goods, with her husband and son for 35 years. Corrie was known as Mrs. C. She also cleaned homes; everyone she worked for loved her.
Our mother's passion was her family and taking good care of them. Corrie loved to talk. She loved people. She also loved to cook, knit, crochet, play bingo, and she loved music and dancing. Every Sunday my dad would put the old record player on with dutch music and they would dance around the house. They went to many of the Dutch Hollandia dances during their life together.
Preceded in death by parents, husband Louis S. Cohen, daughter Betty Sandquist and Sister Nell. Survived by sister Alie Devree, the Sandquist family (Kirk), daughter Yvonne (Mike) Madsen, son Louis Jr. (Lisa) Cohen, 6 grand children and 7 great grand children.
Much thanks to family, friends and neighbours for all the love, support and help over the last years. A special thank you to the Silverado Community for all the love and care she had there. They were so great with her. Corrie had a sweet personality and always had a smile for them.
A gathering will be held this Saturday, Nov. 3rd 2012 at Larkin Mortuary 2350 East 1300 South from 2-4 PM. Mama we will always love and miss you and we will also have great memories of you.
