Craig Nelson Skabelund

Craig Nelson Skabelund slipped away peacefully August 1, 2024 at the age of 73 of Kennedy's Disease. He was born August 12, 1950 he was the third child of Lynn and Ann Skabelund. He met his wife Deb the year she came to Logan to attend USU. They married in 1982, together they had two girls, Paige and Trissa. 

 Craig spent his life building, painting, digging rocks, and driving fast. He was a general contractor, a master painter, a mechanic, a master carpenter and a boulder excavator. He loved his "Big Boy" Construction toys, especially his excavator, dump truck, and backhoe, also the snow cat he spent several happy years in, grooming snow at Beaver Mountain. His lifelong passion for cars started young when he climbed in his dad’s truck, stood on high on the seat, pushed the starter and headed down Riverside Drive with his dad running after the truck, that love never faded. He loved to go fast and turn both ways!

 Craig was a wonderful and creative storyteller. There was nothing that excited him more than a good “keep you on the edge of your seat” story and he excelled in the telling. Sweet was his kryptonite - cookies, apple fritters, ice cream, cake and of course… Caption Crunch cereal. He introduced his girls to a love of vintage, fast and beautiful cars at car shows and tracks, and made sure they could fix their own car problems, (ask Paige about her transmission). He took Trissa to her first concert and started the whole band T collection. Craig was an adventurer and we shared many great adventures over the years, on bikes, in trailers, in boats and jeeps, in the mountains, in national parks, a few deserts, and one great California adventure, much fun was had by all. 

 Craig was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Lynda and Carol, nephews, many of his close friends, plus a great many beloved animals. 

 He is survived by his wife, Deb; daughters, Paige (Doni) Hobbs and Trissa (Justin) Harmon; granddaughter, Trinity; and grandson's August James (AJ) and Conrad; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins 

 A Celebration of his Life (sooo… he really wanted a Wake, so we are trying, we will be sharing dessert and memories) will be September 3, 2024 from 3:00 - 6:00 pm at the River Hollow Park, 10 River Park Drive, Logan, UT 84321. Come gather to share your memories, reminisce, chat and taste some of Craig's favorite treats - cookies, donuts and cupcakes.
