Cynthia Wilkerson Shaw, loving wife, mother and grandmother, unexpectedly passed away at home in Orem, Utah, on March 27, 2009. Cindy was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina on Feb 3, 1944 to Benjamin Workman and Lillie Mae Deaton Wilkerson. She always lovingly referred to South Carolina as her home.
She married David Michael Shaw on July 1, 1964, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Cindy graduated from BYU with a Bachelor's degree in History in 1965. She was a huge fan of BYU and Clemson football. She had a love of history and was an avid reader. She enjoyed a lifelong study of the scriptures and the gospel of Jesus Christ. She served faithfully in several church callings throughout her life. She devoted the last years of her life to the care of her elderly parents. She found joy in spending time with her eight grandchildren, and looked forward to their sleepovers. Her great love was her family and she will be deeply missed by them.
She is survived by her husband David, daughters Deborah (Timothy) Andersen and their children Jacob, Nicholas, Austin and Tessa; Bonnie (Michael) Jones and their children Karrie and Ashley; Amy (Wesley) Sanford and their children Katelynn and Elizabeth; her sisters Lillie Compton and Breta Sorenson. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday March 31, 2009, at the Vermont 1st Ward Chapel, 670 E. 800 N., Orem, Utah. Family and friends may call from 9:00 - 10:45 am prior to the services at the same location. Interment will be at Timpanogas Memorial Gardens, 1000 N 400 E, Orem, Utah.
