He was one in a million!
Darreld A. Ivie, age 77, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2012 from multiple myeloma cancer in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born April 11, 1934 in Tabiona, Utah to William (Chum) and Wanda G. Ivie. He attended Tabiona High School, Salt Lake Community College and served in the United States Army.
He married Viola Casper on August 7, 1954 in Tabiona, Utah. They have been married for 57 years and 5 months. They have two children, Mark Darreld Ivie and Bobbie Jo (Chuck) Drake, four grandchildren, Cody Sanchez (Kasey), Katie Knight (Daniel), Lacy and Tyrel Ivie and one step grandchild Matt McEwan and one great-grandson Raiden Sanchez.
Darreld worked for Kennecott for 30 years, retired and then went to work for Werners BMW in Salt Lake City for 10 years. After that, he then found his dream job in 2001 where he delivered fund raiser pizza kits for Little Caesars. His title was "The Pizza Dude" and he "played" here until 2010.
Darreld had a favorite saying. His favorite saying was, "I was wrong, I was right, but I think I was right most of the time."
He is survived by his wife, Viola Casper Ivie, his children Mark and Bobbie Jo, his grandchildren and great-grandson. He is also survived by his sisters Alfreda Giles, Connie White and Joan Carlile and his brothers Larry Ivie (Kathy) and Randy Ivie (Nancy). He is preceded in death by his parents and three wonderful brothers-in-law.
Dad was liked by most and loved by all. He will be missed and he will never be able to be replaced. Special thanks to Dr. Prystas, Kathy and staff, Dr. Susan Edwards, CNS Hospice and staff. They were great.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the 32nd Ward Chapel located at 1401 West 700 South, Salt Lake City, Utah. The family will receive family and friends prior to services from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Darreld's wishes were to be cremated. Interment will take place at the Tabiona City Cemetery at a later date.
