David Joseph (DJ) Scott of Salt Lake City, UT lost a brave fight against cancer Sunday, Sept. 12. His final days were spent with family and friends by his side.
DJ (formally from Morganton), born Nov. 29, 1976 was the son of David and Wanda Scott. He was a graduate of Freedom High School and Appalachian State University. He worked 7 years as a wildland firefighter on the Wasatch-Cache National Forest in Utah. He had a passion for adventure and outdoors. He loved hiking, rafting, camping and was an avid snowboarder and golfer.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his loving wife, Christine Brown; grandparents, Katie Coffey and Mary Scott of Morganton, NC; aunts, Betty McMahan of Burnsville, NC and Carol Walters of Gastonia, NC and several cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents Claude Coffey, C.W. Scott and an uncle, Dean Scott. Not only does he leave behind family, but many loving and supportive friends.
Serenicare in Draper, UT will arrange for the cremation. A Celebration of Life will be given by his friends and family Saturday, September 18 at Brighton Ski Lodge in Utah.
