David Scott Adkins

David Scott Adkins, age 52, passed away at home in Orem, Utah on Friday morning, November 9, 2007, due to a heart attack. His countenance looked at peace when he was found shortly thereafter.
David was born and raised in Whittier, California, and enjoyed his years there with good neighbors and friends. He relocated to Orem about 17 years ago to be closer to his parents, Glenn Hollis (Holly) and Betty M. Adkins. He enjoyed life and good neighbors again in Orem, as well as the great local outdoors.
He especially liked to fish and observe nature, both in the canyons and from the home's veranda. He developed somewhat of a local bird sanctuary, and took pleasure in feeding and watching different species of birds come around (and sometimes had to coax the cat hardily to let go of the ones she caught). And he loved going outdoors to watch thunderstorms.
David had a sense of humor and good rapport with his mother and father, whose household, yards and gardens, pets, and personal needs he attended to with the loyalty of a son whose parents' love and support he felt at an early age -- when a he had a serious illness for a period of time. He was determined to return their support.
From the time he relocated to Utah, David worked for a family friend as a handyman for miscellaneous business and household maintenance needs. He performed maintenance projects for others, as well.
He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and enjoyed attending church with his mother, home teaching, and the children and many others in the congregation. He did many good deeds for congregation members, and many of them have remarked about his good and helpful nature.
David occasionally thought and talked about his ancestors who had passed on in earlier years, and had a fascination with how they might be doing now. It is fitting that he is now released from the physical pain he suffered in recent years, and can join them in a more peaceful realm of existence.
David is survived by his parents and siblings; brothers Michael P.(Jacque) Vercoe of Pico Rivera, California, Daniel K. Adkins of Whittier, California, sisters Laurie E. Adkins and Diane C. (Douglas) Polhamius of Orem, nieces and nephews and their families in both California and Utah.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at 12:00 at the LDS Church located at 50 S. 800 E. Orem, Utah, with a viewing from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 prior to the service. Interment at the Orem City Cemetery.
