St. George, UT - Deborah Inez Lewis Martin, age 62, passed away at home with her loving husband at her side on August 21, 2011, in St. George, UT, after a valiant year-long battle with cancer. She was born May 16, 1949, in Bethesda, MD, to Carl Henry and Nedra Nelson Dorny.
Debbie graduated from Bethesda -Chevy Chase High School in 1967. She then earned a B.S. degree in Home Economics Education from BYU in 1972. She married Marlyn Lewis on May 24, 1972 in Salt Lake City, UT, they later divorced. She was a loving mother to a son, Steven Alexander. Debbie worked for twenty years at the Washington County Justice Court. She married Glen Martin November 23, 2010, in St. George, UT. Debbie was artistic and creative, she did beautiful watercolor paintings, she loved music, dance, and art. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served as the ward organist as well as in the primary.
She is survived by: her husband Glen; a sister, DeAnne Adams; brother, Nelson Dorny; many nieces and nephews; as well as Glen's children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Steven Alexander Lewis, a brother Rick and a sister Pamela.
The family would like to express appreciation to Dr. Te and Utah Hospice Specialists for the wonderful care provided to Debbie.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 27, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bloomington 8th Ward Chapel, 3519 Manzanita, St. George, UT. A visitation will be held prior to services form 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the chapel. Interment will follow the services at the St. George City Cemetery where she will be laid to rest near to her son and parents.
