Dee Rolfe

Saint George, UT - Dee Rolfe, 78, passed away Wednesday, April 21. He was born 10 May 1931 in Clark, Idaho, to David Jerome Rolfe and Rose Ann Walker. He married Irene Alice Russell, 8 September 1951, in San Diego, CA. Dee grew up on his father's farm in Clark, ID. After high school, he joined the Navy. While stationed in San Diego, CA, he met his wife Irene Alice Russell of Ridgeville, Manitoba, Canada. After a tour on a maintenance ship during the Korean War, he moved back to Rigby, ID, with Irene to start their family. Dee and Irene then moved to Ririe, ID, where they lived for over 20 years. There he worked as a policeman, service station attendant, snowmobile salesman and finally as the bulk truck driver for the Ririe Co-op.
They moved to Salt Lake City to be closer to their sons, and Dee worked as a manager of an oil change service and manager of an apartment complex. They later moved to Las Vegas, NV, where he managed a retirement property and was a nursing home shuttle driver. He and Irene finally moved to Saint George, UT, again to be close to his family. Beside Irene, Dee's joy in life was making sure his sons and all of his "adoptive" sons were involved in their own passions. He was always there to support them whether at a football game, Boy Scouts or a musical play. He also made sure that they were involved with his own hobbies of fishing, tying flies, refereeing basketball and, later, playing golf.
Dee is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law: Russell and Nancy Rolfe of Redmond, WA, and Jack and Lexie Rolfe of Saint George, UT; nine grandchildren, their spouses and three great-grandchildren: Amber Rolfe, Mandi Rolfe, Kenny and Grace Rolfe and their daughter and son Hailey and Kody, Brigitte and James Cramer, Lynnie and Nick Gandola, Megan and Ryan Hambly and their son Reed, Christy Rolfe, Drew (Rustie) Rolfe and Kayla Rolfe; his brothers, sister, and brother-in-law: Don Rolfe (Irwin, ID), Ronnie Rolfe (Idaho Falls, ID) and Rosemary and Gil Yost (Idaho Falls, ID); and two sisters-in-law, Zoe (Rex) Rolfe and Jesse (Reed) Rolfe. He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Irene Alice Russell Rolfe; his father, David Jerome Rolfe; his mother, Rose Ann Walker; and his brothers, David Darrel Rolfe, Ellwyn Walker Rolfe, Rex Rolfe, and Reed Rolfe.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 26, at 10:00 am at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, Idaho. Friends there may call Monday, April 26, from 9:00 am - 9:50 am at Eckersell Memorial Chapel. Interment will take place in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery, Rigby, Idaho, Monday, April 26, following the memorial services.
