Del took the next step in his eternal progression on January 29, 2010 after a long illness. He was born in Provo, Utah on February 15, 1954; the eldest of 11 children born to Delbert F. and Vera L. Eddington. He was educated in the Jordan School District schools - graduating from Jordan High in 1972. He attended BYU in the fall of 1972 and went to Israel as part of the BYU Study Abroad Program during winter semester 1973. He served honorably in the Japan Fukuoka mission. He married his sweetheart, Elaine Nelson in the Salt Lake Temple on Nov. 14, 1975. He continued his education at BYU, graduating with a B.A. degree in December 1979. He continued on into graduate school at BYU. His career was in the high tech industry in California and Utah where he worked as a Technical Writer and Software Engineer. He was an active member of the LDS church all his life, serving in many capacities. The opportunity that gave him great joy was when he had the opportunity to teach for 3 years at the San Jose State University Institute of Religion. He served as an ordinance worker in 3 temples. He loved the Lord and all of his family. He was known for helping anyone in need. He loved music - playing the guitar and many other instruments. He had a very sharp mind and was interested in the sciences and medicine.
He is preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his mother, 5 sisters (Shawna, Marilyn, Cheryl, Barbara, Devera), 5 brothers (Keith, John, Dale, David, Ken), wife and 6 children: Eva M. Patterson (John), Richard L. (Katy), John A. (Vanessa), Eliza R. Turner (Brent), Mary K. Brown (Jeff), Teresa I., and 18 grandchildren.
The family would like to thank and acknowledge the compassionate care rendered by the personnel at Alpine Hospice; especially Dana, Jonathan, Matt and Lynn.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 4th at the Lakeside LDS Meetinghouse on 131 South 1600 West, Provo. Friends and family may call on Wednesday evening, February 3rd at this same building from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral services.
