Dixie Gunderson Allen

Our beloved mother, Dixie Gunderson Allen, age 83 passed away peacefully on April 29, 2022 in Bountiful, Utah.

Dixie was born in Garland, Utah on March 10,1939 to loving parents John Douglas and Nora Walker Gunderson and was the third of five children. She enjoyed a wonderful childhood in Brigham City. She graduated from Box Elder High School and Utah State University in elementary education. She was an education senator and a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Dixie loved children and enjoyed teaching young students, retiring from West Bountiful Elementary School.  

Dixie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ and served faithfully in many callings over the years. She was an accomplished oil painter and enjoyed reading, travel, crafts, sewing and playing bridge. Dixie made friends wherever she went. 

She is survived by her children, Jennifer Allen Ericksen (Vern) of Layton, Utah, Jacqueline Allen Curtis (Jim) of Houston, Texas, and Jason Allen, Salt Lake City, a sister, Karen Crawford, Tempe Arizona, and two brothers, John Gunderson (Carol Ann) Brigham City Utah, Steve Gunderson (Venett) Grand Junction Colorado, 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Paul Brown Allen, son Jeffery Paul Allen, parents, John Douglas and Nora Gunderson, and sister Mary Parsons.

The family is grateful for the wonderful care provided over the years from numerous doctors and healthcare providers. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday May 7, 2022, 12:00 pm at the Bountiful 14^th Ward Building at 1500 South 600 East with a viewing prior from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
