Don Chancey Snyder Cedar City, UT - Don Chancey Snyder, our beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, November 19, 2010, surrounded by his family. Don was born on February 2, 1928, in Myton, UT, to Leland Henry & Lenora Jane Snyder. He married his sweetheart, Dora Lee Bowden, on September 29, 1950. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. Don learned the value of hard work and service at an early age and was always willing to help others. He taught Hunter Safety courses for years and loved to work with the young men in the scouting program. He had many varied interests and enjoyed working with his hands.
He was an engineer with the Bureau of Land Management where he worked for the majority of his career. He also worked as a safety officer on many range and forest fires. He loved being outdoors and was an avid fly fisherman.
He served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany during the Korean War. He was a member of The Veterans of Foreign Wars and The American Legion.
Don was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in numerous callings over the years and enjoyed serving with his wife in the St. George Temple.
Don is survived by: his wife, Dora Lee; daughter, Anna Childs; three sons, Roland (Denise) Snyder, Lawrence Snyder, and Paul (Jill) Snyder; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Sadie; and brother, Glen. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy; and brother, Lloyd.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 27, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., at the Cedar City LDS Sixth Ward West Hills Chapel, 1650 W. Center St., Cedar City, UT. A visitation will take place at the chapel prior to the services from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Interment, with military honors, will follow at the Cedar City Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the hospice workers and all those who have cared for Don with love and kindness.
