Donald Glen Bracken

Our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, Donald Bracken, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2008, at his home in Grantsville from causes related to a stroke he suffered in 2002.
Don was born on December 12, 1927, in Tooele and spent most of his life in Rush Valley (formerly known as St. John). He was one of six children born to Glen and Ella Bracken. He married the love of his life, Dolores Hutchins, on August 23, 1951 in St. John, where they raised their four children.
Don served in the Army in Korea and worked at Dugway Proving Grounds until 1986 when he retired after 37 years of service. Don and Dolores moved to Mesquite, Nevada and also kept a residence in Grantsville close to family and friends.
He enjoyed spending time vacationing with his family and developed a special passion for Hawaii. He was a hard working devoted family man and will be deeply missed by his loving family.
Don is survived by his wife of 56 years and his four children: David (Larinda), Marilyn (Ken)Parker, Rhonda and Steve(Julie); his brother Melvin (Gloria) Bracken, Ogden; two sisters: Jean (Al) DeCarlo, Salt Lake City, and Thelma (George) Engman, Salt Lake City; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Lillian, and brother, Stan.
Funeral services will be held at the Grantsville 9th Ward (415 West Apple Street) on Friday, March 14th at 12:00 pm. A viewing will be held at the church prior to the funeral services from 10:00 am to 11:45 am. Interment will be at the Tooele City Cemetery.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to Mountain West Hospice for their compassionate care of Don, especially his favorite nurse, Dee, as well as Diana, Irene, Bob and all the others who contributed to his care.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely, in a pretty and well preserved body; but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, "WOW - What a great ride"
