Donaldo Ernesto Medina, age 73, passed away on March 6, 2009. He went quietly in his sleep after a lingering illness which he fought a long and valiant battle.
Don was finally ready to go home to his heavenly father. He was born on March 15,1935 in Fort Collins, Co. to Frank and Sophie Medina. He moved to Fort Garland, Co. as an infant where he grew up on a farm. He learned many things on the farm and did lots of hard heavy work. He served in the military from 1954 to 1957, a year of which was spent in Korea.
Don was very proud of his service to his country. He married Dorothy Ulibarri on January 25, 1960 and later divorced. In 1988 he joined the L.D.S. church which made him very happy and content. He married Jackie Black on December 3, 1992 and was later sealed in the St.George L.D.S. Temple. Don was very proud of the fact that he could speak spanish and was always willing to interpret whenever the need arose. He led a full rich life full of family and was very happy until the moment he left this life.
Survivors include his wife Jackie, children Carol, Becky, Tina, Joe, Debbie, Dolores and Rose Medina, stepchildren Micheal Ulibarri, Dwain, Valerie, Jason, Andrew, Jeremy, Sabrina, Alex, Donovan, and Jodi Black. One brother Amos and sisters Helen, Bertha, Martha, and Barbara. He had numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren as well as nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Sophie, brothers Donald, Joe, Alfred, Frank and Andy, sister Pricilla and son Donald.
Services will he held Sat., Mar. 14, 2009 at 12 Noon at the Midvale East 4th Ward, 87 E. 7100 South.; where friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until services. Burial will be at Redwood Memorial Estates Cemetery.
