Donna Joy Sutton Kuhre, 80, passed away August 27, 2010, in Murray, Utah. Donna was born Oct. 16, 1929, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Vance and Carma Simmons Sutton. She graduated from Granite High School at age 16, attended the University of Utah and served an honorable LDS Mission in Southern California. She married William Newell Kuhre on Nov. 30, 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple.
She spent her life serving her family, her church, and everyone around her, working in the Family File area of the Jordan River Temple for 18 years. She served on the stake Sunday School Board, as a Primary President and teacher, and had various callings in the Relief Society, Young Women's and Primary organizations. She was active in the community and was trained to help with CERT, Community Emergency Response Team. But her most important and fulfilling calling was as a wife and mother, her family was her greatest joy.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Kuhre, her son, Brent Kuhre (Miriam), two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Alicia) Farley and Ms Marsha Francis, 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Mrs. Reed (Shirley) Petersen. She was preceded in death by her son, Brian Vance Kuhre. Heaven is still rejoicing at that reunion.
She passes on her great love for the Lord, His prophets and the scriptures. She never waivered and her faith and example are a strength to us all. The family expresses their deep appreciation to Applegate Home Health and Hospice for their kind and gentle care. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 2, 12 noon at Cottonwood 11th ward, 1830 East 6400 South. Friends may call at the war Wednesday evening 6-8 p.m., and Thursday 10:45 - 11:45 a.m. Interment will be at Elysian Burial Gardens under the direction of SereniCare Funeral Home.
