Dora Harris Wheeler, 93, passed away on July 20, 2006, at the home of her daughter in Salt Lake City, UT. She was born Jan. 28, 1913 at Salt Lake City, UT, to David Oscar and Rebecca Gustaveson Harris. She married Rufus A. Wheeler Oct. 25, 1933 at Logan, Utah. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had worked for many years in the Primary, Sunday School, Relief Society, M. I. A., and was on the Relief Society and Genealogy Stake Boards. Dora spent her early years in Utah but moved to Burley, Idaho in 1925. She completed her education there and at Albion Normal School. She also taught Seminary in Burley and English Literature at Minico High School after her children were raised. She was an avid reader and enthusiastic about life. She loved people more than things and tried to be kind to all. When she was a small child, her father read to her the poem, "House by the Side of the Road." She said that was her aim in life and tried to live it. In her younger years she loved all sports and used to swim the Snake River and enjoy all healthful activities. Many people have made a lasting impression on her life and she was very grateful to all her Church and secular teachers for the effort they made to help her learn and grow. She was always interested in those less fortunate than she and was willing to share anything she had. She was happy by nature and used to quote often "The City of Happiness is in the State of Mind." She has never really been healthy since a car accident in December of 1968 which has caused her to be in almost constant pain. She spent winters with her son, Steven, and his family in Arizona; time with her son, Robert, and granddaughter, Deanna, in Colorado, with her daughter Ann in Oregon; her daughter, Ruth, in Salt Lake City, UT. She spent many years in Idaho with her daughter, Lori.
