Doris Leona was born on August 27, 1930 to Leo Evert Burt and Ethel Robson Burt in Detroit, Michigan where she was raised. She passed away on August 3, 2012.
She married Myron "Mike" Thomas Herrick on September the 6th, 1952, in Detroit Michigan. They lived in several places while Mike was employed by the Social Security Administration. They ultimately settled in Sandy, Utah and considered it home for over 40 years.
Doris was gifted in keeping in contact with old friends and making new ones. She enjoyed playing pinochle, discussing current events, being friends with the children of the neighborhood; she enjoyed movies, especially liked celebrating holidays with the Emmett's , fantastic houseboat trips to Lake Powell with the Massoth's and going out to Wendover.
Mike and Doris enjoyed his retirement years until he passed away in 2004. Staying in her home was very important to Doris. Her sons cannot express enough gratitude to her friends and neighbors who made it possible for her to stay in her home despite her declining health.
Her life was deeply enriched by being a part of the Stromberg family. Their generosity in allowing her the privilege to be an additional grandmother to Brooklyn and Paige added meaning and purpose to her life. Thank you!!!
She was preceded in death by her husband Mike, her parents, her only sibling Noreen Burt Hottum, and her infant daughter Kathy Lynn. She is survived by her sons Jim (Logan, UT) and Paul (Anchorage, AK).
Please do not send flowers. In memory of her loving relationship with Rosie, Sandy, Hershey and Bodeanie please donate to your local Humane Society or Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Ut.
A casual get together to commemorate her life will be held at her home (8728 So. 1700 Ea., Sandy) on Saturday, August 11th from 3 to 6 pm (light meal provided). All friends are welcome.
