Born March 14, 1918, in Tulsa, Wyoming, the 1st twins born in the valley in a small town named Viola to John and Mary Marx. She joined 3 older siblings. Later 4 more children would be born to the Marx family. Dorothy married Victor McGinnis on January 18, 1938 in Green River, Wyoming and made their home on Dry Piney Creek near Big Piney, Wyoming. They were married 64 years and had 4 children. In August 1939, first daughter Barbara was born. Four years later a second daughter, Kathleen, was born in May of 1943. A year later, a son, Victor Samuel was born in November, 1944. Ten years passed and a 2nd son Timothy was born in December 1954. In all, Dorothy had 17 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 7 great, great grandchildren. Dorothy loved being a ranchers wife and raising her children. Dorothy was at home on the ranch, cooking and baking bread and pies for her children and all the children's friends. She loved having kids of all ages around to eat her food and compliment her on her cooking. After the children grew up she loved going for walks and hunting for arrow heads. She took up crocheting and made all her children an afghan in their favorite color. After Victor died in 2002, she sold her home in Big Piney and moved to Salt Lake City to be closer to her two sons and grandson. The shared a home with her grandson, Mark, until December 2009, when she moved into an assisted living home, Alta Ridge, in Holladay. Although she didn't want to leave her home she came to love the care and thoughtfulness of the staff at Alta Ridge. Special thanks to Cherie and Julie for their extra special attention and loving care.
