Douglas Hyde Hendricks Our beloved, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend Douglas Hyde Hendricks, 89, died May 22, 2007.
Doug was born in Pocatello, Idaho, on November 24, 1917, to Felix and Rose Hyde Hendricks. Doug married Arda Searle December 8, 1940 in Salt Lake City Utah. They are the parents of three children. Doug received his education in Pocatello, Idaho. He graduated from the University of Idaho and went on to receive his degree in pharmacology. Doug owned and operated "Hendricks Prescription Centre" in Provo for many years and in 1960 moved his pharmacy to Orem. He was a member of the Utah Pharmacuetical Association and served on the Board of Directors. He was a member of the Provo City Chamber of Commerce and the Elks. He enjoyed service projects, especially Sub for Santa. He is a member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was an avid gardener and always maintained a beautiful rose garden which was his pride and joy. He enjoyed fishing in Mexico, Canada, Alaska and was a master of all kinds of puzzles
He is survived by Ruth Ann Baum of Provo, Carla (Joe) Whitney of Orem; Scott (Toni) Hendricks of Castle Rock, Colorado, fourteen grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and one great, great grandson on the way.
Special thanks to Dr. Duros and his staff who were so kind and gracious to him, the nursing staff of Timpanogas Hospital for their kind and gentle care and Salmon's Pharmacy who went out of their way to serve him.
A viewing will be held Saturday, May 26, 2007 from 10:00am to 10:45am at the SunCrest 9th Ward 130 North 400 West in Orem followed by a graveside service at East Lawn Cemetery, 4800 North 650 East Provo.
