Earl Charles Williams of Alamo, Nevada passed away December 14th at the age of 93. He was born August 29, 1917 in Garrison, New Mexico. He grew up learning the importance of hard work while milking cows by hand on his father's farm in Glendale, Arizona. He met and married Anna Ruth Smith on February 6, 1936. In 1953 they were sealed in the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple. They celebrated 69 years together before Ruth passed away in 2005. During those years they raised their six children. They truly felt blessed with a large posterity which included 31 grandchildren, 70 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.
Grandpa made each of his grandchildren feel loved and special. He loved to make fun memories with them. One favorite memory was his rides in the backhoe bucket. He would load the grandchildren in and then raise the bucket, often times tilting it over the ditch as to dump them in. He always had room for ice cream. He said you can never be too full for ice cream because it just melts down between the cracks! He farmed and was in the trucking business through out his life. He and his family moved to Alamo in 1972 and then to Las Vegas where he started a trucking company, Earl Williams and Sons. His company was the first to start hauling gravel and asphalt with triples in the city of Las Vegas. This gave him the opportunity to meet many people which is something he loved to do. He always had a love for horses and it became his favorite pastime in his later years.
Earl was loved by many and will be missed! He is survived by his sister Roberta (John) Dye, daughters Frances (Grant) Roylance and Elizabeth (Steve) Passmore and sons Chuck (Nancy), Ron (Lynn), and Marc (Earlene). His funeral was Monday, December 20th at the LDS Chapel in Alamo, Nevada.
