Edward LeRoy Johnson

Edward LeRoy Johnson, 89, died March 30, 2007 at his daughter's home in Alpine, Utah. He was born November 11, 1917 in Garfield, Utah to John H. and Ida Carlson Johnson. He married Audrey Matthews, (divorced). Married Virginia G. Johnson December 30, 1954 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple June 8, 1985. Edward worked for the Kennecott Copper Corporation as a driver and later was in management. Edward was a gentle, loyal and trustworthy man. He had a nobleness of character that others trusted. He was a Scout Master, played city league baseball as catcher and was an "Honor Athlete" as a young man. He loved golf and won many bowling trophies in the American Bowling Congress. Survived by his wife Virginia, children Stephen E. (Dorothy) Johnson, Bonnie S. (David A.) Parker; 12 grandchildren: D. Randall (Melanie) Parker, Julie K. (Leslie) Scott, Christi L. (Brett) Jackson, Stephen, Christopher, Michael, Todd, Michelle, Janae, Jared, and Beau Johnson. His legacy also includes 42 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Ida Louise and her husband Earl S. Hunt, and grandson Jefferson D. Parker. Funeral services will be held11:00 am, Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at the Olympus 4th Ward Chapel, 2675 East 4430 South, Salt Lake City, Utah where friends and family may call from 9:30 to 10:45 am. Interment at the Elysian Burial Gardens. A special thanks to Applegate Hospice, nurse Janice, Jamestown Nursing Home, nurse Jamie and all the caregivers there.
