Elden Allen Dorius

Our beloved father, grandfather and friend, Elden Allen Dorius, 72, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2009 in St. George, surrounded by his loving family. Elden was born in Sterling, Utah on June 22, 1936 to Elden Heber and Iva Mills Dorius. He married Claudia Burton Dorius, later divorced and Corene K. Dorius, also divorced.
After attending Jordan High School and Brigham Young University, Elden worked many years as a plumber and in waste management. He started the first Roto-Rooter franchise in southern Utah, and also the first portable toilet business. Of all his hobbies, he most loved training pigeons, winning many first place ribbons for homing pigeons at the Utah State Fair. He loved birds of all types and enjoyed woodworking and was an artist.
Elden is survived by his children Troy (Susan) Dorius, Robin Brighton, Steven (Julie) Dorius, Jodilyn (Keven) Hatton, Debra (John) Willingham, Brandelyn (Daniel) Dalton, Linda (Jimmie) Bryant, Shay (Kaitlin) Dorius, Janet (Wayne) Fagenbush and step-children Bryan (Cindy) Hopkins, Brent (Rizza) Hopkins and Misty (Chris) Mattson. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and brother Stanley (Beverly) Dorius and sisters Ruby (John) Brown and Caroline Butler. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Orval Dorius, daughter Sharon and granddaughters Sharon Star and Angel Dawn.
A viewing will be held from 12:00 noon until 1:45 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2009 at the Sage Creek Ward, 807 West Capilla Road in Washington, Utah. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Tontaquint Cemetery in St. George.
