Loving husband, father and grandfather, Elijio DeLaGarza, 61, of Salt Lake City, Utah died Tuesday, June 30, 2009 in Salt Lake City at the Veterans Hospital. Elijo was born August 1, 1947 in McCallen, Texas. He attended and graduated from high school in Arizona before joining the U.S. Marines during Vietnam. He served two terms in Vietnam. He worked at the Rainbow Casino in Wendover, Nevada as the Assistant Security Manager until his health required him to retire. He moved to Salt Lake City in 2006. He married Paula Vallejo on September 12, 2005 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He loved to fish, collect eagle memorabilia and was known as Eagle Man. He was a DJ in Rupert and Burley, Idaho for radio stations and had worked as a carpenter in Idaho, Nevada and Utah. He even had a band and was the bass player and singer. He loved music and knew some famous artists who performed in Vegas. He is survived by his wife, Paula Vallejo and his siblings, Angie, Jessie, Roy, Tony, Enedina and Sylvia DeLaGarza and Santos, Sandra, George and Ricky Rivera. His children, Leo Jr, Debbie, Eyvon, Sandy, Terry and Alexis. Many grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family held private services and appreciates all the thoughts and kind acts given to them during Elijio's illness.
