Elmer Eric Strand died March 20, 2009 at the age of 88. He was born in Stensholmen, Sweden on January 25, 1921 to Judith Elizabeth Anderson and Karl Gustav Strand.
After immigrating to the United States, he lived his entire life in Salt Lake City, Utah. He proudly served in the US Army during World War II. He graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor's degree in geology and a master's degree in mineralogy.
On September 2, 1947 he married Lucille Roundy (later divorced). Elmer continued counting their anniversaries - as he explained it, she divorced him; he didn't divorce her. Together they had three daughters - Mona Carlson, Karen Carroll and Lillian Vincent.
He is survived by his ex-wife, three daughters, 9 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24th at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Dr; to be followed by a celebration of his life at the home of his daughter, 1632 South Wasatch Drive, Salt Lake City, UT.
