Gene Hare 1923-2011
Gene Hare's motto for life was, "Live! Live! Live!" which she did to the fullest. On Feb 8, 2011, she moved on to another act of her journey through life.
Emma Gene was the youngest child of George and Georgina Richards of Mammoth, Utah. She was born March 18, 1923 and almost made it to her 88th birthday.
She lived a substantial part of her life in Camarillo, Calif. working as a legal secretary. She married Leroy Baker Hare, an air cadet, in August of 1943 and they divorced in 1970. Gene has three children Georgianne (Lauren Dalzen), Thomas Roy Hare (Darlene), and Sue Beth (Larry DeMartini). She has been blessed with 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren who all adore her.
Gene has resided in Provo, Utah for the last 28 years where she was active in the community. She served as a Neighborhood Chairman for the Marrcrest area, Chairman Of the Board for the Marrcrest neighborhood, wrote Grandma Hare's Cookbook, provided homemade delicious wedding cakes for her grandchildren, and served on the Homemaking committee for Rock Canyon Relief Society where she prepared dinners for 100 people several times a year. She did it all with style and flair.
Gene is preceded in death by her brothers Bliss and Douglas Richards, and her sisters Grace (Bill Morgan), and Beth (Archie Hill), and also a grandson Jeffrey Aaron Dalzen. Gene was the end of a remarkable generation. She helped her entire family learn to love life, music, good food and time together.
Gene has been a resident of Bel Aire Care Center, Orem, Utah for the past year, receiving loving helpful care for Alzheimer's disease. We are grateful for the help of the wonderful people at Bel Aire. They were our earthly angels.
