After 90 and one half years of a challenging but strong, healthy, life, being refined into gold, Erika Fassmann Mueller passed away quietly at her home in Lindon from a sudden illness on June 27th, 2011.
Erika was born the 27th of December, 1920 in Zwickau, Saxony, Germany to Walther Fassmann and Anna Clara Foerster Fassmann. She married Rudi Wilhelm Benno Mueller on October 26, 1944 in Zwickau.
Erika was optimistic, warm, gracious, orderly, patient, enduring, faithful, loving and benevolent. She loved to study, share and live the gospel of Jesus Christ. Miracles were an expected part of her long life. She served a total of 7 missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of latter Day Saints starting during WWII, and later with her husband, in family history in Germany and as one of the first Matrons of the Frankfurt Germany Temple. She also served in the cub scouts, MIA and Relief Society. Her life's work was in genealogy and she provided her family with a life's worth of work in family history. Erika used her healing and caring talents as a practical nurse for President and Sister David O. McKay till the end of their lives and maintained her own health-food shop for a time. Erika's refined hostess skills made an ordinary day special and special days exceptional.
All who knew her will miss her, but rejoice that she was prepared to move on. One of her favorite quotes is "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience... We are spiritual beings having a human experience". She always encouraged her family to "expect the best and you will get the best". Left behind to carry on the legacy is her husband Rudi, daughter Birgit Robinson, son Wilford Mueller, (Tina), 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, her sister Helga, (Heinz) Kupitz, and brother Walter (Inge) Fassmann, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her youngest brother Heinz and her parents.
