Eugene Johnson

Eugene Johnson returned to Heavenly Father on July 27, 2007. He was born on May 13, 1915 at McClure, New York. His parents were James Nelson Johnson and Iva Van Steenburg. He was married to Vivian Irene Snow on Aug 30, 1947 in Binghamton, New York. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on September 12, 1947. He served in the US Army during WWII and was part of the occupation forces of Japan. He was the first LDS baptism in Japan after the end of WWII. He graduated from the State University of New York Institute of Arts and Sciences in Johnson City, New York. He later began working for General Electric in New York. He moved his family to Virginia and he began working at Goddard Space Flight Center until he retired in 1980. After his retirement Eugene and Vivian moved to Utah with their son, Danny. They wanted to be closer to the rest of their family who were already in Utah. Eugene enjoyed woodworking, being a handyman, fishing, doing Family History and listening to good music. He had a special way with animals. They seemed to trust his kind spirit. He loved serving the Lord by always doing his Church assignments faithfully.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian Johnson, of Lindon, UT. His children Lorraine (Lynn) Stoddard of Allen, TX ; Kandi (Lamond) Syphus of St. George, UT; Mark (Patty) Johnson of Orem, UT; Gilbert (Helene) Johnson of Springville, UT and Daniel Snow Johnson of Spanish Fork, UT.
Funeral services will be held at the LDS Lindon 10th Ward at 1051 E. 200 S. on Friday, Aug. 3, 2007 at 11 AM .Viewing will be Thursday, Aug. 2nd at the Lindon 10th Ward from 6PM a€" 8PM and also one hour prior to the service on Friday. The family would like to send sincere thanks to the neighbors and members of the Lindon 10th Ward and Alpine Home Health/Hospice who helped care for Eugene and Vivian in his last days.
