Our beloved Eunice passed away peacefully with family by her side on March 20, 2007. She was 82. Eunice was born in Leicester, England on Dec. 27, 1925 to William and Ada Taylor. At the age of 4 she contracted polio and seemed to be doomed to lifelong paralysis. Suddenly, one day she got up and walked unsteadily across the room. She went on to recover fully and by the age of 7 she could run and jump as well as other children. It was the first time she showed her incredible inner strength and may explain why she always loved to walk - and walk fast. During WWII she endured endless nights with her mother in Air Raid shelters as the bombs fell. When the US entered the war she was told to avoid the "Yanks" who appeared in England. But she met a persistent young Californian who she finally took home to meet mother. Surprisingly, her mother liked Ken. He had been badly wounded in the D-Day invasion and was later sent back into combat in the 1945 Airborne invasion of Holland. The war soon ended and Ken was sent back home. He must have liked this lovely English girl because he returned in 1947 and they were married. They began their new life in Sacramento, CA where they raised 3 children. In 1964 the family moved to Salt Lake City where Ken had a job at Ft. Douglas. When Ken retired he and Eunice moved to Midway, Utah where they lived until Ken's death in 1984. Eunice lived these years in rural Utah. She began oil painting and found she had quite a talent for it. Over the years she painted hundreds of landscapes, wildlife, and dog paintings. She always loved dogs and her dog portraits show the deep affection she had for them. After Ken's passing she moved to Sandy, Utah where in 1986 she met Dan Golesh. He was also widowed and they became fast friends and companions for the next 21 years. When her health began to decline, Dan was there for her right to the end. Eunice loved life and people and had many, many friends. People were attracted to her fun-loving spirit and loved her company. She is survived by her sister Wynne in England; her son Gary in Alberta, Canada; her daughter, Annette of Salt Lake City; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Ken Lind in 1984 and her daughter, Cheryl in 1997. She was dearly loved by friends and family and we will all miss her greatly. Special thanks to Cottonwood Creek Community and staff, Hospice Care and staff, and Dr. Judy Davis for all their efforts to help Eunice pass on with dignity. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday March 26, 2007 at 878 E. Union Ave (7145 S.) in Midvale, Utah.
